A. Eric to put M21 dissemination reports in pdf and send to Krystyna
A. Eric to produce a more detailed agenda for the year 2 meeting and send it to the list.

Previous Actions
A. Sylvia and Rupert to come up with a new plan for CIM structure on attribute by attribute basis to start work using code snippets. Gerry doing this for CIM viewer software, so can help with this. - ongoing
A. Everyone who hasn't already done so to register for the year 2 meeting using the survey monkey questionnaire. - ongoing - Sarah to remind everyone!
A. Mark M to confirm the full location of the year 2 meeting later this week. -ongoing
A. Charlotte to raise tickets arising from the beta testers comments on ticket 485 -  mostly done
A. Eric and Marie-Pierre to prepare something on governance for the year 2 meeting- ongoing
A. Allyn to put remaining webcasts on-line and arrange with Sarah to put them on the Metafor site. - ongoing -  Allyn communicating with Andrew about getting them on the site
A. Mark M to email list for thoughts about search related use cases. - ongoing - will present at year 2 meeting

Actions from questionnaire telco

A. Eric – find out who’s going to be doing simulations and needs access to the questionnaire this year (2009) so we can engage with them as soon as possible. We’ll need a name for each institution  - ongoing - Eric will find out who's going to be running simulations at the meeting in Boulder at the end of January.

Previous completed actions:
A. Sylvia and Sophie and Marie-Pierre to continue discussing which ticket is the definitve source for terms to add to the ESG display from the questionnaire off-line. - done
A. Rupert and Sylvia to discuss the number of attributes offline. - done
A. Sarah to email Mark M numbers from year 1 meeting -done.
A. Rupert to create a text view of attributes and choices for model components - see email exchanges. - ticketed and dropped

Decisions:
D. Search related work has been split into UI side and services side work. Allyn will concentrate on services (eXist) and Mark M will concentrate on UI (html). This will allow other groups to use our services in their own portals.

Issues:
I. Compliance between questionnaire xml output and the CIM.

- review of actions

Clarification is needed about the xml being output from the questionnaire and it's compliance with the CIM. Allyn is making sure to keep the generality of the CIM. Questionnaire output will be compliant with CIM v 1.3 - may not be for CIM v2.0

If we're happy with how coupling looks in the ESG display, then don't change what's coming out of the questionnaire to describe coupling to be more CIM-compliant.

It's important that we don't lose any information from the questionnaire. Rupert has been mapping everything that can be mapped to the CIM, and the bits that can't be mapped to the CIM are output as bespoke.

We should be able to write conversion packages to take into account CIM upgrades fairly easily.

In version 1 of questionnaire, semantic logic can't change, but how things are output can change.

Gerry acting as alpha tester for the output software.

- questionnaire news (Bryan, Charlotte)
  - roadmap to v.1

Timescales - there are lots of tickets on lots of different people to do with questionnaire. If things arte to be done to the questionnaire before release, Bryan needs to know about it soon!

Bryan is returning tickets he doesn't know what to do with to their originators with a comment. If the tickets don't come back to him, he'll assume they're done. Everyone is to keep a close eye on their tickets this and next week.

Bryan will definitely complete critical and blocker tickets. Everything which is of lower priority might not get done (depending on time).

Units and CF standard names now in input. They're not mandatory.

Big changes have been made to the coupling - so we're stuck with what is done, unless we want to delay release. There are layout changes and slight changes in the way the copying in changed. By default nothing is copied. Copying is now all or nothing, and will overwrite what's already done. Warning text has been added to the page to let the user know this.

There is now only one comment box for all the inputs. Changes in text have been made to make instructions clearer.

We don't declare what prognostic variables are in a component. Prognostic variables are located at the top level of the components as a list.

Users of output of questionnaire probably won't be so interested in coupling. Key scientific properties of coupling will be output by the questionnaire.

Support will be able to clarify what's important in the questionnaire (e.g. if cf compliant names are needed or not at the coupling level).

Files might be full of other information we're not interested in, but people might want to look at that file independent of anything else, hence it's possible to share a file. Is not possible to share a coupling.

Thursday morning - next beta (will be a clean/empty version). Will save information already put in, but not sure when/if we can put the previous information back in. D. Put the new beta on a different port to have two versions running. People will need to exercise it.

- critical path for the metafor information

Sylvia and Bryan discussing timeline in context of GO-ESSP.

- ESG portal news (Sylvia)

Demo on Friday - 5pm CET.

- CIM services (Mark M)

Agreement to split search related work to UI side and services side. Allyn will concentrate on services (eXist) and Mark M to concentrate on html side. Services telco on Thursday pm.

- CIM population and testing news (Mark M)

Official document of use cases for type of search which'll be supported by Metafor.

Progress being made on integrating U.of Cantabria's work into the DoW. Discussion about ensembles - tools to auto-create CIM instances from ensembles.

- CIM news (Allyn)

Little changes trickling through. Conformance and references being looked at at the moment. Confusion with how simulation runs and simulation composites interact.

- CIM tools news (Allyn)

Seperation between UI and underlying services. Will allow other groups to build their own portal and link into the services we'll provide.

Rupert and Allyn to discuss what can and can't be done for the tools off-line.

- CV news (Marie-Pierre)

Updated new ocean mind map.

Land surface and atmosphere (aerosols) changes resulting from beta testing tickets:
 * Component names to be shortened (ticket 332).
 * Add "other" and/or "n/a" to choices for bundles - generic thing is easy to do, but specific cases will be difficult. Allows an exception to be made to things that are yes/no and require an input. Marie-Pierre to put the logic of this on the ticket.

Changes to controlled vocab means that ESG ontology changes - so need to copy ESG people in so they know to regenerate the information.

- Dissemination (Sarah), incl.

M21 deliverables need to be put into pdf and sent off.

   - talks (EGU)

4 abstracts sent. Not too worried about possible overlap at this time.

- Misc:
   - Y2 meeting (agenda, registration,...)

Need to have exact number of people to be able to book appropriate room. Hope to have meeting dinner on restaurant boat on the Seine.

Progress made on agenda. Eric to produce a more detailed agenda and send it to list.
