Charlotte, Gerry, Marie-Pierre, Bryan, Rupert, Sarah (to coordinate) on list. A. Eric - Draft standard email to send to potential beta testers - translate Eric's email to IPSL. A. Gerry - give a short demo of the xml viewer at next week's telco. A. Sarah sending draft newsletter out on Monday. A. Sarah to get in touch with Digiman cartoon people rather than working with a school for the Metafor cartoon. A. Sarah to put agenda on wiki page attached to ticket for organising year 2 meeting. A. Sarah to send email to WATCH project to invite them to year 2 meeting - done Previous actions: A. Michel to ticket about having model components changing colour once they've been filled in. - ongoing A. Bryan to deal with issue in ticket 426 about the box for name getting hidden by the requests for other information - ongoing A. Charlotte to check the short names for experiments given in the new document on the CMIP5 website to make sure we conform to them in the questionnaire. - ongoing A. Rupert to work on exporting CIM xml from the simulations - priority. - now can export questionnaire xml from the simulations, not CIM compliant. CIM compliance will require a bit more work. A. Allyn to revisit the issue of when should a change to an instance result in a new instance and get a discussion going. - ongoing A. Allyn to put remaining webcasts on-line and arrange with Sarah to put them on the Metafor site. - ongoing - Allyn communicating with Andrew about getting them on the site A. Mark M to email list for thoughts about search related use cases. -ongoing A. Sophie to email Mark M about automatic population of CIM instances - e.g. parsers and publishers for NEMO and OASIS files. - ongoing A. Marie-Pierre and Eric to clarify difference between tickets 280 and 372 about definitions and add comment to ticket 372 on how to work on the ticket so others can help.- ongoing - raised a new ticket about that. A. Lois will write a page on the e-concertation meeting and send it to Sarah for distribution - ongoing - document written, but not sent to Sarah Actions from questionnaire telco A Charlotte to set up wiki for common mistakes encountered when completing the questionnaire - ongoing - ticket 485 A Eric – find out who’s going to be doing simulations and needs access to the questionnaire this year (2009) so we can engage with them as soon as possible. We’ll need a name for each institution. Email Karl for contacts. - ongoing . Previous completed actions: A. Bryan to ticket about better handling of extended duration experiments. - Charlotte working on this with Gerry - done. A. Charlotte to change the requirements document so that it is compatible with the CIM. This will break the questionnaire and Bryan can then fix it. - done A. Gerry and Charlotte to email Marie-Pierre when the mindmaps with definitions are done so that she can check them with Rupert's parser. - done A. Marie-Pierre to translate the mindmaps with definitions for the questionnaire. - done, but needs to commit to repository. A. Mark M to email Sarah about creating new trac milestones. - done A. Everyone to send ideas about what should be in the year 2 meeting agenda to Sarah and Eric. - done A #416 Bryan to add controlled vocab to the Advection component - ongoing - can live with what's there so will leave it for time being. - dropped Decisions: D. At the institutional level, each of the beta testers should be given an introduction to the questionnaire and then be sat with by a member of the Metafor team to capture the tester's comments. D. When the questionnaire is live, we should schedule webcasts and live runthroughs for users. Feedback fromt he beta testers will help us structure these. D. At EGU the team should present a paper about the questionnaire (Charlotte and Bryan), another paper appropriate for the portals session (Bryan) and another about the controlled vocabulary (Marie-Pierre). D. As well as the paper on the CMIP5 metadata, we want to have publication about the CIM. Allyn to lead this with contributions from the group. We also want a seperate paper on controlled vocabulary - Marie-Pierre and Eric to lead this. Issues: I. There is lots of metadata in the netCDF files that overlap with what's being captured by the questionnaire - need to make sure it's consistent. - review of actions The export of questionnaire input as xml is not CIM compliant yet and will require some work to get the exported xml CIM compliant. The tools we're generating assume CIM xml - idea is therefore to output CIM xml from questionnaire eventually. Any time there is a reference to another document, you can embed it instead. Issue of replication of things. How are instances stored/persisted? Probably as seperate documents. How they're transferred/displayed - would make sense to embed everything. Definitions done before Friday deadline haven't made it into the beta version. Can't be added now beta is released. Eric will probably meet Karl end January at IPCC meeting in Boulder - can get more information about modelling groups and their timescales then. - questionnaire news (Bryan, Charlotte), incl. - next steps for beta1 (and how to capture feedback) Questionnaire beta released on Monday. Charlotte been writing documentation to guide people through it. Balaji will run through questionnaire with some of his colleagues. Met Office will have 3 beta testers. Need ticket to collect beta testers names and capture their comments. There was a discussion about how to collect the comments from the beta testers: Beta testers can't create tickets. 2 phases - send testers url and documentation and leave them alone for an hour. Part 2, sit with them for a few hours and collect their feedback. Person sitting with them then is responsible for putting comments into tickets - one comment per ticket. Should we have a dedicated telco to review beta tickets? Online presentation of questionnaire first, give testers an idea of the questionnaire before they start making comments? Need to cater for people who won't have the presentation. Live run-throughs and webcasts for beta testers a good idea. Issue of time! Done at institutional level for beta testers. Webcast and live run throughs for users when questionnaire is live. Can use feedback from beta testers to structure webcast. Will need a forum where users can ask questions about the questionnaire. Could repurpose forum on Metafor joomla - maybe on CMIP5 site? Need to make sure we're hitting a big audience for these questions. Eric and Sarah to decide and organise. Sarah - Organise an email address to send to people to provide support for the questionnaire. Charlotte, Gerry, Marie-Pierre, Bryan, Rupert, Sarah (to coordinate) on list. 1 person per institute to capture feedback from beta testers. 2 columns - 1 for tester comment/question, 1 for answer/comment. - summary of "CMOR attributes and the CMIP5 questionnaire" In netCDF metadata attached to data files, there's overlapping information with questionnaire with slightly different definition of how things are acquired. Discussing with Karl about either removing this metadata or making it consistent with the questionnaire. Similar thing with Grid. Not much verification of where overlaps are between ESG and Metafor systems. Information in netcdf hangover from AR4. - CV news (Marie-Pierre) Gerry added stuff into Atmosphere mind map about cloud generator. Exported definitions from mind maps into spreadsheet in ticket 326. Discussing evolution and governance of CV and definitions. 3 instructions on 326 for unifying the way we word the definitions. Rupert will be working with Julian (Curator/ESG) on translation from CV mind maps to OWL in the next week or so. - CIM news (Allyn) Needs to email list about when should a change to an instance result in a new instance. - CIM tools news (Allyn) Tool on Allyn's website - was free text search, now can be restricted free text search (on all documents/models/etc). Advanced search now a large webform with pulldown boxes etc. Want to have options reflecting current content of the archive so people can only search on what's there. Will integrate with viewer Gerry's produced. Need appropriate set of fields to display to users with the search results. Calls are done by xquery embedding calls in the xml. Front end is mostly webforms. Third party could interrogate the server by typing the correct uri with the right parameters. - CIM population and testing news (Mark M) Not much news since last week. Next step to clarify use cases we want to have services to support. Face to face meeting at year 2. Services telco last week - tasks for next sprint on wiki - report number 16 "services active tickets". - Dissemination (Sarah), incl. - EGU talks Deadline for submissions 18th Jan. Charlotte and Bryan - paper on questionnaire. Charlotte able to go. Session on portals - should propose something there. Liaise with Bryan. Marie-Pierre - model controlled vocabulary and process of developing it. Very important to write about all the work we've been doing! - Newsletter Sarah sending draft newsletter out on Monday. Requested ideas for content. - cartoon Sarah to get in touch with Digiman cartoon people rather than working with a school. - paper on CMIP5 metadata Include questionnaire, controlled vocabulary etc. Doesn't have to be long, but need to keep it in mind. EOS journal - suggestions for others? Want to have publication about the CIM. Need to plan to write this next year. Allyn to lead this with contributions from the group. A possible journal would be Geoscientific Model Development Journal http://www.geoscientific-model-development.net. Seperate paper on controlled vocabulary - Marie-Pierre and Eric. - Misc: - Y2 meeting agenda Proposed agena sent to list. First day will start early to allow STAB etc to get a full overview of the project in a day. Will try to finish at ~3pm on day 3. Sarah to put agenda on wiki page attached to ticket for organising year 2 meeting. Sarah to send email to WATCH project to invite them to year 2 meeting. - DoW towards amendment 2 Opportunity to review milestones and deliverable dates. Manchester might want to make changes. Changes from Max Planck and BADC received. - next telcos dates and ESG demo Tues 8th December. Following week is Thurs 17th - will have an ESG demo by Sylvia. |
