Apologies: Bryan, Charlotte

Actions:
A. Everyone to visit ISO-CAT homepage to see if it's useful for us for our controlled vocabulary.
A. Sarah to organise a doodle for a dedicated telco to discuss the questionnaire with Bryan and go through it interactively. One
doodle for next week, one doodle for 10 days following GO-ESSP. -done
A. Sarah to send Metafor cartoon script to list for comment - done.
A. Sarah to investigate further on how to get the Metafor cartoon made - contact press and pr people at various institutions.

Previous actions:
A. Gerry to write some notes summarising the key ideas of the Brazil meeting and their impact for Metafor - ongoing
A. Bryan to phone Karl tomorrow re keeping atmopsheric chemistry and aerosols together and also re text for the CMIP5 website -
ongoing.
A. Marie-Pierre and Charlotte to discuss prognostic variables off-line - ongoing.
A. Charlotte and Gerry to proof-read the mind maps - Gerry has done all mind maps except for atmospheric chemistry one.
A. Allyn to modify the CIM to allow coupling to a variable in a file. - ongoing
A. Allyn and Lois to coordinate regarding D2.3 Actual CIM for delivery of METAFOR tools and services. - ongoing - Lois to do
overview and Allyn to fill in details.
A. Hans to provide first draft of D6.1 Automatic Capture Tools to the list this week. - ongoing - will send to list this Thursday
A. Marie-Pierre and Eric to discuss ticket 201 off-line - ongoing - will be done on Thursday
A. Marie-Pierre to arrange another telco with Lawrence Buja - waiting for him to reply - ongoing
A. Everyone to review Michael's presentations (as sent to the list). Reply to Michael and copy to Hans. - ongoing

Previous completed actions:

A. Eric to send url of University of Cantabria group's tool to downscale ensembles to the Metafor list - done.
A. Gerry to look at CMOR as a post processor, what changes a user can make and how to fit those into the questionnaire. - ongoing - needs advice from someone who uses it - turn into a ticket and remove from action list

Decisions:
D. Controlled vocabulary should be consistent with UK spellings.
D. Dedicated telco on the questionnaire with Bryan.
D. Any spelling mistakes found in the mind maps should be sent to Marie-Pierre and she'll correct the maps.

Issues:
I. How do we know we've got enough metadata/information in a CIM instance? What's the minimum amount of data acceptable in a CIM
document?
I. Get_data issue in the questionnaire.
I. What's the best way to review the questionnaire. Don't want to duplicate reporting effort - i.e. having multiple tickets on the
same issue. Tickets will also need to be filtered and triaged.
I. Will we need to restructure the mind mpas at any point? This will have implications for the questionnaire.

Next general telco - Tues 29nd September, 3pm BST/4pm CET.

- CMIP5 Q news

Charlotte been creating conformance documents for CMIP3. Bryan's priorities are parameters, tabs and buttons for the questionnaire beta release.

Issue with reviewing the questionnaire - there's a long list of tickets that will need to be triaged.

Need to have meeting about the questionnaire with people sitting in front of the questionnaire and interacting with it. Perhaps have a meeting/workshop at GO-ESSP?

Will we need to restructure the mind maps at any point? Will have implications for the questionnaire. There are constraints on mindmaps resulting from the questionnaire.

Beta version will be released to people who have never seen it to get their feedback.

- CV news

No news this week. List of spelling mistakes to be sent to Marie-Pierre and she'll commit the changes.

- CIM news

List of changes to be made to the CIM - will be made as soon as big documentation change has been made, then will release a new version for the deliverable release (due end September).

- WP5 CIM tools and services news

Lot of talk on mailing list. Allyn emailed list with wiki document to capture all the decisions that have been made on the list.

He's started using eXisit and it's tying in well with other tools.

~25 email messages on what tools to use. Allyn working on set of tools that will run on the portal somewhere - not replicating the portal at local modelling centres.

It's up to each modelling group who want to use the CIM to export records that are CIM compatible.

Validation of instances - will that be pushed up into the Metafor portal? Which work package will create the CIM checker? There's nothing to say if something is a minimum CIM - just validates it as a document. Doesn't say anything about the content.

Some things in the questionnaire you can't validate automatically - hence need another validation step. Can't use schemas to validate if something is supposed to have a value but doesn't.

Problem - not validating the document against the schema but knowing when there's enough metadata in the CIM document.

Questionnaire will have a way of showing how many sections have been filled in.

Look at issues of coherence and compatibility in year 3.

- WP3 "CIM Population and testing" news and new partner

Will discuss plans with new partner either at GO-ESSP and/or at dedicated telco.

New partners work in ensembles and created portal for downscaling to RCM. They have a keen interest in metadata.

The new partner will use the CIM instances of their ensembles to create more options for their portal. All the ensembles runs are finished, so the dataset is complete and stable.

First meeting at GO-ESSP to define next steps - specific telco and/or dedicated meeting. Sebastien will coordinate.

Should join telcos from next week.

Gerry will present Eric's presentation at GO-ESSP.

- Misc:
  - second EU payment

 Should be on its way.

  - dissemination

Proposed Metafor cartoon - Sarah can write the script, but need someone else to do the animating. Ask around institutions -
press and pr people might be able to help.
